DO OUR YOUTH HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO GET THROUGH LIFE'S CHALLENGES?

The programs that we employ are constructed to allow youth to retain and utilize life skills in an interactive environment. Our horses are 1200 lb teachers, which allow participants to have an experience that they will never forget. Youth face growing challenges every day, and our program offers the opportunity to assist them in becoming leaders, making choices, as well as building confidence and self-esteem. Our youth programs range between 8 —15 sessions. This time frame allows participants to solidify the skills learned in a usable way.

Horses are the ideal educational tool for use with children. Once a child is taught the fundamentals of working safely alongside a horse, he or she can become the leader the horse seeks. When the horse feels safe and at peace with the person, cooperation occurs and the child can easily gain the respect and teamwork of the horse. The BuildingBlock™ Program we offer delivers fast and effective results!

WHAT CAN OUR PROGRAMS DO FOR YOUR YOUTH?

curriculum programs for youth

Curriculum Programs

Children, like horses, are always looking for a leader. Our experiential learning approach allows for the ideal atmosphere for the child to do so alongside the horse. Once a child is taught the safe way to handle a horse, he or she has the opportunity to become the leader that is within them, and learns how to apply appropriate life skills into everyday activities.

Once a child masters leadership skills they in turn can gain the cooperation and respect of a 1500 lb animal, which then will listen to the child’s every request, building confidence along with further people skills. The BuildingBlock™ Program we offer delivers fast and effective results!

Our youth programs range between 8-15 sessions. This time frame allows participants to solidify the skills learned in a usable way.

Anti-Bullying Programs

What would a world without bullying look like? Who is the victim? The one being bullied or the Bully themselves?

One of the proven ways to effectively remove bullying behaviours from our society is to implement positive social skills, which improves communication, emotional well-being, self-esteem, and overall integration between all. Our Equine Assisted Learning program is guaranteed to bring results and provide a sensory experience where pupils come to know firsthand how to effectively remove bullying tendencies from their groups, encouraging teamwork and removing isolation.

One of the things that we need to remember when working with bullying scenarios is that the bully is just as much a victim as the one they inflict their aggressive behaviour toward. Many have been overlooked, misdiagnosed, suffer from neurological disabilities, or have been abused also, and with our program we can implement a positive change encouraging leadership, choice making skills, responsibility, and above all, creativity and loads of laughter.

Youth Leadership Development

To build up effective leaders for the future we must think of our youth today. Do they have the necessary skills to provide a healthy leadership role for themselves, their families, and their future careers?

Our objectively driven programs are constructed to ensure that everyone walks away with life skills that can be immediately applied in one’s life and build a better future for tomorrow.

"What I witnessed when I accompanied one of the students group, was something extraordinary. The transformation of fear, hesitation, into trust and an overwhelming sense of love and peace is what I witnessed with these young students. It is truly incredible to watch just how much of an impact these horses and coaches had on our students that day."

FAQ's

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why does EAL work?

WHAT GROUP SIZES DO YOU WORK WITH?
Between 6 and 12 participants is how many we normally work with. We like lots of hands on work with the horses and these numbers allow us to ensure that happens.

DO I NEED EXPERIENCE WITH HORSES?
Absolutely not, our program is run with everyone on the ground and does not require you to ride a horse. We instruct every group on rules and safety precautions to take around the animals and the arena. Safety is number one! We can work with everyone’s comfort levels and experience around horses.

WHAT IF I'M SCARED OR DON'T LIKE HORSES?
No worries! We are not learning if we are not stepping outside our comfort zone! We offer a wonderful opportunity to work on overcoming fears in a safe and controlled manner. Some of the people who have attended our workshops have started out petrified, but by the end of the program, they have all learned more about themselves and overcome their fear.

DO WE RIDE THE HORSES?
No. All of our work is out of the saddle. You will work alongside the horses as part of your team for the best and true reaction of the horse and the most beneficial way of learning for you. This way the horse can be it's true self and not be "on the job."

DO I NEED CERTAIN CLOTHING?
The only required clothing is closed toed shoes for safety while working around the horses. Other than that, just dress for the weather and wear clothes that you are not afraid to get a little dusty in!

ARE YOU CERTIFIED?
Yes! Miranda and Marvin are certified through the Academy of Equine Assisted Learning, a leading organization in EAL, that offers the only certified BuildingBlock™ program in the World.

ARE YOU INSURED?
Yes we carry extensive insurance for ourselves and those who attend our course.

I'M ALLERGIC!
Knowing is half the battle! Just be sure to take an allergy pill before you come. One of our Lead Instructors, where Marvin and Miranda were certified, is also allergic to horses, but finds that the allergy pills will do the trick.
